RESIST GLENCORE!

Resistencia Activa Ya! (English: Active Resistance Now!) is an emerging global grassroots network led by
communities directly harmed by the operations of Glencore, one of the worlds largest mining companies
and raw material traders. RAY! is building a transnational alliance grounded in lived resistance, aiming to connect struggles from across the world that are often isolated in the face of one of the most violent and
powerful corporations in the extractive industry. RAY! is a space built by and for frontline communities
to share experiences, build mutual support, and coordinate strategies of resistance. Its aim is to hold
Glencore accountable for its business model based on systematic violence, destruction and dispossession,
reclaiming autonomy over our lands, lives, and futures.

This month, two representatives from RAY! will travel to Europe to share their story and to raise funds for their legal battle against Glencore. This week, they will be in The Netherlands, visiting several cities. See the event schedule below.

Support Inés and Julio's fight against Glencore!

Glencore is one of the most destructive and unscrupulous companies in the world. This Anglo-Swiss company operates mainly in the mining industry, acting ruthlessly, literally and figuratively. Numerous Glencore mines have been associated with human rights abuses and ecocide - the destruction of ecosystems. The El Cerrejón coal mine in La Guajira, Colombia, for example, where local residents are driven off their land, drinking water is polluted, and people's lives are not secure if they speak out against the mine. Someone like Inés, for example, who represents the Afro-Colombian community in the region. She and others have united in the collective Resistencia Activa Ya!, which has taken up the fight with Glencore.

This month, Inés and Julio - who represents affected communities around a copper mine in Peru - are coming to Europe to tell their story at the UN and raise funds for their fight against Glencore. Activists who speak out against Glencore face great personal risks, including arrest and job loss. With a financial contribution, you can help them continue their brave fight. Money is also needed for the legal battle against Glencore, which has little regard for laws and regulations. But of course Glencore has deep pockets, so it can hire the best lawyers and lobbyists.

Your contribution will support affected communities in Colombia, Peru and elsewhere, and help activists like Inés and Julio in their fight for a safe and healthy environment. But we also benefit if Glencore were forced to close mines, because Glencore is not only causing death and destruction locally, but causing irreparable damage to ecosystems and the climate worldwide. So pull out your wallet and make a concrete contribution for a cleaner, safer and more just world, a world without neo-colonial companies like Glencore!
